April 2011
Dear Friends and Supporters
THE QUEENS AND KINGS SCHOOL, PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA
Trevor is in Port Harcourt at the moment and has just taken the photos on the attached sheet. We trust that you will be interested to see these, and that they will give you a flavour of how things are at the school.
Last week Trevor helped with the marking of the exam papers. He told me that the exam results were very good, and that he is impressed with the quality of the teaching.
As you will have heard on the News, there was an election in Nigeria last Saturday. The result is that the incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been elected for a further four years. Trevor says that this bodes well for the future of Nigeria – a re-birth of the country with a democratic government.
As you will see from the pictures there are still outstanding jobs at the school – the water tank is not yet complete, work in the Boarding Department has to be finished, also windows installed and decorating of the outside of the building.
However, the most urgent need is for the salaries to be paid each month for which we need £1,600. At this date the March salaries have not been paid, and the April salaries are also due as we are now into the Easter holidays.
Your gifts to help us will be most gratefully received. If you could set up a monthly standing order payment this would be very beneficial – please ask for our bank details if you are able to offer this.
