News from For Thine is the Glory, Inc. on a feature film about Mary Baker Eddy

Dear friends,

For Thine is the Glory, Inc., and individual Christian Scientists locally, have been working diligently, to bring to fruition a feature film about our forever Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

This project is independent from the Mark Twain, Mrs. Eddy film being pursued by Val Kilmer and announced in The Christian Science Sentinel.

Much progress has taken place as the direct outcome of dedicated metaphysical work by the team and our supporters. We’ve felt a kindred spirit with the early pioneers in the Movement who helped bring the original Mother Church building to its successful unfoldment. Just as then, we feel this is an unfoldment to benefit the Field and the cause.

At this time we are urgently asking for metaphysical and financial support. Within the next week it is necessary to bring in additional funds to make an advance to the scriptwriter - to be announced by mid-March. The scriptwriter, if not known by name, will certainly be familiar to many of you from the well-known films he’s scripted.

A short video (6-10 minutes) is in process that will be the springboard to raising the "big" money for production of the film - the $10 - $15 million we’ve mentioned in the past. Our appeal here is NOT part of the $10 -$15 million - that will most likely be raised from the film industry and other investors. This appeal is to complete the next funding step needed for the current threshold of the $300,000 to get the film written, short video produced, team assembled, and other advance work that will proceed the actual film production.

To date we’ve been very grateful for metaphysical and financial support from individuals, churches and Christian Science Associations.

We are grateful to all of you for your metaphysical and financial support. Please find it in your hearts to help move this project forward - to give to the project at this key juncture in the development process. And as always, it’s so helpful if you share your interest and enthusiasm for the project with your many friends by forwarding this email to them.

Support can be sent directly to:

If you already have sent a donation we thank you, and have thanked you. If possible, please consider sending additional funds. If you’ve been thinking about the merits of the project but have not made a contribution, this would be a very good time to aid this unfoldment. When sending a check by mail, please make sure to include your return address on the envelope, and cover the check inside for added privacy and protection.

We have several Informational meetings in the works for 2010, with the next one in Phoenix on March 13. Details are posted on the website. We look forward to seeing you at one of these meetings. Call us to help arrange a meeting in your area.

As you know, all of the Board members and Co-Directors working on the project are strictly volunteers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call any of us at any time.

Onward and upward!

Sincerely,

Jane and Barry Morton

Science and Health in Braille reaches India

Truevision Braille Services in Lansing, MI arranged for and sent a copy of Science & Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy in Braille to India earlier this month. Truevision Braille had received contact from a practitioner in Chandigarh, India that a school that serves blind students wanted a copy of S&H in braille. The principal and some students from the school had attended a lecture given by the practitioner about two years ago. They enjoyed the talk and sought to get a copy of the book mentioned for their students. (Truevision Braille, produces the CS Lessons in English braille, under contract with the CS Publishing Society.) They have in recent years begun collecting CS Braille material that is not in use and found that the Reading Room in Davis, CA had a full six-volume set of S&H in Braille. They provided the set to Truevision Braille, who mailed it out to India. The Braille S&H was presented to the school by the Christian Science Society in Chandigarh. The school recently sent a note of thanks to the Society and a copy of the note was e-mailed to us in Michigan. Jon & Margaret Vogler own and operate Truevision Braille Services.

Announcing future relocation of The Mother Church Sunday School

[From the Clerk of The Mother Church] “Father, we Thy loving children / Lift our hearts in joy today” begins Hymn 58 in the Christian Science Hymnal.

And what a joy it is to announce that planning has begun for The Mother Church Sunday School to relocate into a newly renovated space within The Mother Church in 2012. It has been the desire for some time now to bring the Church congregation and the Sunday School students together in one location. We treasure these dear students’ inquisitiveness, inspiration, and spiritual education, and we look forward to providing a more seamless transition between the students’ Sunday School experience and our active Church family.

We will be renovating some underutilized areas in the Church, including the current Children’s Room in the Extension and the Vestry in the Original Mother Church with a connection between the two. This rejuvenated space will offer a flexible learning environment that will accommodate as many, if not more, Sunday School students, as the present Sunday School building.

The eventual reuse of the existing Sunday School building—which has served Sunday School students well for four decades—will be determined as part of the Christian Science Plaza Revitalization Project. This Project includes identifying opportunities for underutilized Plaza real estate in ways that benefit the Church as well as its surrounding community.

We know this move will be a blessing to students, their parents, teachers, and the congregation as we make room for the children in our hearts and our Church edifice.

“It is a joy to know that they who are faithful over foundational trusts, such as the Christian education of the dear children, will reap the reward of rightness, rise in the scale of being, and realize at last their Master’s promise, ‘And they shall be all taught of God’” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 230).
