Description: It’s hard to imagine what the Lesson Sermon would be like without the Psalms. Think of the world without grass!

The Book of Psalms contains a wide range of human/religious expressions, including experiences of hope, faith, defeat, despair, humility, gratitude, praise and more. It is also filled with healing truths which makes it so useful to the Lesson Sermon. In fact, citations from the Psalms are used more than any other book of the Bible in the Lesson-Sermons.

This talk will explore the relationship between the Lesson Sermon and the Psalms. We'll discuss:

• The background and structure of the Book of Psalms
• The Bible Lessons' use of Psalms (including some interesting statistics)
• The use of Psalms in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy
• Examples of metaphysical or spiritual interpretation of the Psalms

Have your Bibles at the ready as we learn more about the Book of Psalms.

Your speaker:

Jim Fisher CS spent 25 years as the founder and president of a marketing communications firm specializing in corporate communications. His company were pioneers in the emergence of the Worldwide Web and built many major sites for national firms including The Hartford, Prudential, Caremark, Universal Financial, Cleveland Orchestra, SaraLee Foods, and many others. He recently sold his business to his employees and is engaged in the practice of Christian Science. He currently serves as Second Reader at his branch church and has also served as a church Trustee, Sunday School teacher, ACOP and First Reader. He resides with his wife, Mary, in Bainbridge Township, Ohio and enjoys meddling in the lives of his three grown children!
