One of Mr. Link's
great loves is his work in the pop music world. As a song writer, record
producer, artistic director, and sometimes performer, he keeps his finger
on the pulse of the times through many various activities. He has recently
finished a double CD of his own songs entitled THRU ME - The songs of
Peter Link which he wrote and produced. He has recently finished orchestrating
and producing a CD for the pre-Broadway production of AFRICA PLUMBRIDGE
a new musical out of Chicago. In addition to composing for the theatre, Mr. Link has written the film scores for several Movies of the Week for television, NIGHTMARE with Richard Crenna and Patty Duke, THE GREAT NIAGARA with Richard Boone and ENORMOUS CHANGES AT THE LAST MINUTE for presentation on Home Box Office. Mr. Link also wrote and produced three songs for Harry Belafonte's movie BEATSTREET and a song for the movie RAPPIN'. He also created and wrote the title song and theme music for VEGETABLE SOUP, the popular children's television show on racism which has run since 1975 on both NBC and NET and for which he won several ASIFA Animation Awards. He also composed and performed the scores for HIGH FEATHER, a children's television series on nutrition. He has also contributed to other programming for children including SESAME STREET, THE ELECTRIC COMPANY and THE BIG BLUE MARBLE. In 1976 he extended his musical influence to the ballet world, orchestrating, arranging and composing from Stephen Foster themes for the Joffrey Ballet Company's bicentennial ballet DRUMS, DREAMS AND BANJOS. As a director he wrote and directed JOSH, a one man musical about the late Josh White starring his son Josh White Jr., the four highly successful productions of WAITIN' IN THE WINGS: The Night The Understudies Take Stage and ISLAND his own musical. In addition to this he produced, wrote and directed WITH HEARTFELT THANKS - A TRIBUTE TO LEE STRASBERG at Lincoln Center which featured over thirty major stars and CLOSE UPON THE HOUR, a benefit evening for the American Run for the End of Aids featuring his songs and starring all of the top New York cabaret stars. Mr. Link began his career in New York studying acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse with Sanford Meisner. Upon graduation he immediately won a long-running major role on CBS's AS THE WORLD TURNS. He performed in a number of national network commercials and played the lead in HAIR on Broadway and the lead in his own SALVATION. He also played a feature role in the film THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS with Jack Lemmon. He presently has a number of exciting projects on the boards. His western musical, SUNDOWN, has recently been workshopped at the York Theatre Company in NYC and at the ASCAP/Disney workshops in NYC and in May of 2002 had its world premier receiving rave reviews at the Lyric Stage in Dallas. It played a 2 month run at the Barter Theater in Virginia in the spring of 2003. His revival of KING OF HEARTS was performed to rave reviews at the Goodspeed Opera in the fall of 2002. His Concert Attraction, SEVEN ROADS TO HEAVEN, is presently being developed. Also his musical, ISLAND is also presently under development. |
