Back to Weekly Bible Lesson study resources for this week»

From John London:

My project for this year is to write a song a week inspired by the Christian Science Bible Lessons.

Christian Science Bible lessons include 26 topics which are covered twice a year, and are available in a variety of formats. (For more information, visit spirituality.com.)

I’m creating YouTube videos for each song, as well as a “lead sheet” (melody and chords) available in pdf format as well if you’d like to learn or play the songs yourself.

NOTE: The Bible study resources posted on PrayerfulLiving.com are offered for your weekly Bible study and may be used to compliment your own personal inspiration, study and exploration. Click here to subscribe to the Christian Science Quarterly Weekly Bible Lessons»

Doctrine of Atonement: April 15 - 21, 2013

Hello everyone!

Our Christian Science Bible Lesson for the week ending April 21, 2013 is on the topic of Doctrine of Atonement, and I have three new songs for you this week all from Science and Health. All are Songs of Remembrance—learn the song, learn the passage.

And as always, may these songs bless you as you study and pray through this week's lesson.

John London

New! Let Us Rid Ourselves of the Belief (ver. 2). This passage says that if we want to truly grow, we must go beyond the belief that man is separated from God and bring our thought captive to the Christ idea, the divine Principle, Life and Love.

I’ve set this passage before. You can hear it here: http://manoftruth.net/truth/?p=4224

SH 91:5
Let us rid ourselves of the belief that man
is separated from God,
and obey only the divine Principle,
Life and Love.
Here is the great point of departure
for all true spiritual growth.

Let Us Rid Ourselves of the Belief (ver. 2)
(Citation S5)

New! With One Father. This citation tells us that the unity of mankind depends upon our acknowledging the one Father of us all. The oneness of God and man establishes our brotherhood upon the basis of Truth and Love upon which Christian Science is founded.

SH 469:30–5
With one Father, even God,
the whole family of man would be brethren;
and with one Mind and that God, or good,
the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth,
and have unity of Principle and spiritual power
which constitute divine Science.

With One Father
(Citation S9)

New! A Desire for Holiness. To become holy, we must desire holiness, but more, we must be willing to sacrifice everything for it.

SH 22–27
We know that a desire for holiness
is requisite in order to gain holiness;
but if we desire holiness above all else,
we shall sacrifice everything for it.
We must be willing to do this,
that we may walk securely
in the only practical road to holiness.

A Desire for Holiness
(Citation S24)
